LA LAND MATCH
WHAT IS IT?
LA Land Match is a resource organized by Open Silo to help connect urban farmers and gardeners with land to grow food. The Urban Agriculture Incentive Zone was implemented in LA County in 2014 and in the City of Los Angeles in 2016, with the intention of making vacant lots available to grow food by offering a tax incentive to the landowners. While this incentive is still available, you also don’t need the UAIZ to grow food or offer your land! Many successful urban farming models take place within shared spaces such as a residence, school, business, or place of worship. The City of Los Angeles allows gardeners and farmers to grow food in any zone without applying for a permit. We hope that LA Land Match can connect people who need and have available land, whether vacant or otherwise.
If you’re interested in finding or offering land, feel free to view the public list and fill out the form to add yourself as a grower or land holder. We also encourage people to look into other land-sharing projects like Earthworm and CropSwap LA. Or create your own!
Interested in a specific vacant lot? You can ask the Los Angeles County Assessor for the owner’s information by calling (213) 974-3363 or check out the Property Panel to see if the lot is owned by the City of Los Angeles.

You are welcome to leave some info blank or anonymous, but the more info you give will make it easier for people to understand your preferences and envision partnering with you. Please note that filling out the form does not automatically add your name to the list.
